I’m amazed that today’s artist has never been featured before in Mystery Lyrics (at least not as a solo artist; I'm not sure about her former band). She had a Top Ten hit with her Boston-based quartet in 1985. Today’s song only made it to #93. It appeared on the “
Today’s artist seems always to have been romantically involved with musicians. She formed the band mentioned above with her then-boyfriend. Their breakup inspired the hit song, and he later became her manager. She had a romance with Jules Shear, and married Michael Penn in 1997.
One of her songs from a movie soundtrack was nominated for an Academy Award. Surprisingly, she recorded a Christmas album in 2006.
