{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Everyone}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} A little while back one of our family sent out some songs from another list I am on of unusual songs. They gave me an idea to use these songs on the day of rest mostly in part to not being able to find the lyrics on line to many of the songs. These songs will be coming in as Looney Tunes Sunday and mixed in with my usual Day Of Rest Songs. There's tons of these songs some which have been used but we have only sent by the original artist, so they might show up here. Plus some of the artists may show up more then once. Homer and Jethro, Ray Stevens, Weird Al have tons of these, unusual, quirky just plain funny novelty songs. If any of you have any suggestions on something you would like featured just send it in and if you can with the MP3 in case it's one I don't have. Today's MP3 will go out a little later today, it's time to unchristmatize the house, take all the decorations down and clean. I've been at it since 9 AM this morning ugh. <g>
I want to thank D56Dopey - Debi for the great tags I'll be using. She did a wonderful job!
I also want to thank Tomd1685- Tom, THEONEBUFF- Hil and Griffn655 - Jim for sending most of the MP3's for this thusfar.
First up is the very multi-talented Barry Mann with a song called Warpaint, the Barry Mann/Howie Greenfield classic was also recorded by the British group the Brooks Brothers. Everly Links
Barry Mann (born Barry Iberman on February 9, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American songwriter, and part of one of the most prolific songwriting partnerships in the world of rock music.
With his partner and wife, Cynthia Weil, they operate a publishing company called Dyad Music. His first hit as a writer was "She Say (Oom Dooby Doom)," which was a top twenty song for The Diamonds in 1959. Mann had co-written the song with Gerry Goffin. Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil met when they were both staff songwriters, they were married in 1961. Through the late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Mann came up with songs such as "Sometimes When We Touch" and movie scores such as that for I Never Sang for My Father. Weil co-wrote "He's So Shy" with Tom Snow for The Pointer Sisters and worked on projects with Lionel Richie.
In 1961, they wrote and Mann sung a novelty song that made the Top 10 with "Who Put The Bomp", which parodied the nonsense words that were used in songs at that time.
In 1987, he was inducted with his wife into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
